ELEVATION DRAWINGS

Elevation drawings are required for almost every type of planning application. They are intended to communicate the exterior design of the property and to show alterations by providing both existing and proposed plans.

If you are replacing a window or multiple windows you will generally require existing and proposed elevations plans. Even if you are replacing your windows with like for like you will still require a house elevation drawing and some of the planning departments may also ask for existing and proposed layout plans just to make sure they know exactly what you are doing.

For a simple project such as replacing the windows we always look to keep the cost down for the homeowner by asking them to submit photos of the elevation and hopefully that means we won't need to do a survey which bumps up the cost.

If the planners ask for layout plans try to get floor plans from the estate agents as they may be good enough to create new scaled layout plans without the need for a survey.
